Quickstart
Three steps from nothing to your first hiring signal. Every endpoint, field and error is in the API reference, generated from the API itself.
Step 1
Get an API key
Sign up with your work email — we send a magic link, no password and no card. Your key is shown once in the dashboard; keep it somewhere safe.
Get an API key →Step 2
Make your first call
Send the key as the X-API-Key header.
This asks which companies are hiring backend engineers in the United States:
export REQBEAT_API_KEY=your_key_here
curl -s 'https://api.reqbeat.com/v1/reqs/search?q=backend+engineer&geo=United+States&limit=5' \
-H "X-API-Key: $REQBEAT_API_KEY"
A call without a key is refused with 401. Calls are counted against your plan's limits — see rate limits.
Step 3
Connect an MCP client
The same key works on the MCP server. Paste this into your client's server config, replacing the placeholder with your key:
{
"mcpServers": {
"reqbeat": {
"url": "https://mcp.reqbeat.com/mcp",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_REQBEAT_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
Every tool and its input schema: MCP tools.
